Author Pat O’Connor in conversation with Marie-Louise O’Donnell
In discussion with Marie Louise O'Donnell, Mayo coroner and well-known solicitor Pat O'Connor will talk through some of his of his wide array of anecdotes as discussed in his book, The Life and Times of a Country Solicitor.
Lawyer, sportsman, administrator, family man – in this brief memoir, Pat O’Connor reflects on a rich and fulfilling life that has taken him to the farthest corners of the world while remaining firmly rooted in his beloved Mayo. From his role as coroner to his lifelong involvement in Irish rugby, the book traces his personal commitment to many of the charitable, community and governance initiatives that have shaped Ireland’s development over the last fifty years.
As a former President of the Law Society, Pat followed in the footsteps of his father Thomas Valentine O’Connor – the first Mayoman to be elected to that office – after succeeding him as principal in the family firm. Four generations on from its foundation in 1900, P O’Connor & Son has grown under Pat's stewardship to become one of Connacht’s leading legal practices.
Written during the pandemic of 2020, these pages speak above all of family, friendship and shared values as cornerstones of a life well lived.
