This compact class will cover the basics of writing a poem from start to finish. Topics covered include kick-starting your inspiration, basic elements in poetic writing (metaphor, imagery, rhythm...), and approaches to editing. Participants will have a chance to practice noticing exercises and isolating memories, as well as consider poetry of place, and will take part in writing exercises.

Poet Alice Kinsella was raised in County Mayo. Her work has been published both nationally and internationally, in publications including Headspace magazine, The Fem literary magazine, Poethead and The Sunday Independent. Her poem ‘Museums’ was included in Poetry NI’s ‘Poems for Holocast Memorial Day 2016’.

There are nine places available. Admission is free but pre-booking is essential.
